Noble Just Got a Whole Lot Bigger
Hello all, I hope you’re doing well.
We have some big news to share — and I wanted to make sure you heard it from me directly.
Noble Mobile has acquired Helium Mobile! You can check out the feature in Fortune that just came out as part of the announcement. This is a huge day for our company and vision, so we want to take a minute to explain what this means (and what it doesn’t mean), and why we’re genuinely pumped.
What happened
Helium Mobile is a wireless carrier with tens of thousands of subscribers built on a mission not that different from ours — give people a better deal on their phone bill and take on an industry that has taken advantage of consumers for too long. We admired that. When the opportunity arose to bring their members into the Noble family, we jumped at it.
What this means for you (short answer: not much, and that’s the point)
If you’re a Noble member, your plan isn’t changing. Your price isn’t changing. Your network isn’t changing. You’re still on the T-Mobile 5G network, you’re still earning cash back for using your phone less and growing that cash back at 5.5% a year, and you’re still part of a company that is genuinely and structurally on your side. Our vision of helping millions of Americans be more present, and ending this massive data tax on our lives, is still our laser-focus. Everything you signed up for is not only still intact, but also stronger than ever.
What is changing is that Noble is now a significantly larger company. More members means more leverage, more resources, and more ability to build the things we’ve been promising since day one.
A note for the tech-curious
For those of you who know what the Helium Network is — the decentralized wireless network built on blockchain infrastructure — yes, we’re aware of it, and yes, it’s part of the picture. In the future, Noble members can enjoy access to the Helium Network as an added layer of connectivity. We’ll share more when it’s ready. For most of you, this will just mean better coverage options.
Why this matters
When we started Noble, the pitch was simple: the wireless industry has been ripping people off for decades, and we could build something better. A carrier that actually aligned its incentives with yours. One that paid you to use your phone less, and let you grow your savings, instead of profiting from your addiction to it and paying shareholder dividends off your overpayment.
This acquisition is proof that the model works. Noble is growing, the industry is taking notice, and we are just getting started.
Thank you for being a Noble member. We wouldn’t be here without you, and we’re looking forward to sharing even more exciting updates as we continue to grow.
Look Up.

Put Down Your Phone
Okay, let’s say you’re me. You use your smartphone a lot. You use social media a lot. When you wake up in the morning, the first thing you do is check your phone. You need to feel connected because people might be trying to reach you.
At the same time, you can kind of sense that it’s not great for you. You feel drained sometimes after being on social media. You open an app to do something and then get distracted and think, “What was I doing again?” You don’t pay as much attention to the people around you as you should when you’re out to dinner.
At Noble Mobile, we want to help. You will actually get money put into your account for using your phone a little bit less. Money talks! But there are other things you can do too.
- Don’t sleep with your phone. The first thing is, don’t sleep with your phone in the same room as you. The blue light emitted by phones suppresses melatonin, a hormone that tells your body it’s time to sleep. Notifications might disturb you. There’s some thought that electromagnetic radiation from your phone also might reduce sleep quality.
Now, some of you are thinking, “Then how will I wake up??” You can get something called an alarm clock. It’s maybe twenty bucks and it also tells the time. Put your charger in your living room, and leave the phone there.
Screen time before bed also makes it harder to sleep. Try to avoid using your phone for an hour before bedtime. So what to do with that hour? Experts recommend books; no blue light, and if it’s boring, hey it’ll help you get to sleep.
- Adjust your notifications.
“I need someone to be able to get in touch with me because it’s an emergency.” Okay . . . but what constitutes an emergency? Some rando on Instagram liking your avocado toast pic?
You can make it so that your loved ones can reach you in case there’s something really going on, but not the borderline work contact or social media notification.
- For iPhones: Go to Settings > Focus
- For Androids: Go to Settings > Digital Wellbeing & Parental Controls > Focus Mode
For example, you can set ‘Personal’ mode so that all of your friends and family can call or text you, but your social media apps are muted.
Give yourself a break.
Is there something you can do during the day during which maybe you can leave the phone off or at home? A workout comes to mind. If you go for a jog, do it without your phone.Phone-free meetings or lunch.
Try this the next time you meet a friend for lunch; bust your phone out and scroll through it the whole time. Super rude, right? You would never do that.Give yourself some lag time.
We often think getting back to someone right away shows that we’re on top of something. But the truth is that 99.9% of things can wait 60 minutes.
Look, I’m a heavy phone user. But I know there’s too much of a good thing, and sometimes it seems like social media apps run on the power of human souls because I feel depleted after using them. We should all pursue balance in our lives, and most of us have a liiiiiiittttle bit too much screentime in our waking hours.
If you’re a Noble Mobile subscriber, you’ll also get money back every month to doomscroll less and live a little more! We include discounts from partners like GetYourGuide, Calm, Back Market and others who would like you to be more mindful and get out there.
Let’s look at our screens a little less and look up at the faces around us a little bit more. Oh yeah, that’s what my kids look like.
